The Angel City Football Club will face the Mexican women’s team on September 5 in the first Angelina Cup.
The match, which is part of a multi-year partnership, will take place at Banc of California Stadium and will celebrate “the rich history of Mexican culture in Los Angeles through community impact, celebrations and competition on the field.”
“We are excited to partner with FMF (Mexican Federation) and SUM (Soccer United Marketing) to organize this one-of-a-kind annual event that features a national team and a professional team and brings together our communities, cultures, cities, and countries.” , the president of Angel City, Julie Uhrman. “We look forward to growing the Angelina Cup year after year. We hope to set an example of what is possible when two organizations come together, celebrating our commonalities and differences, as we bring our communities together to enjoy the beautiful game.”
In May, Angel City announced a two-year partnership with UANL Tigers in Mexico. Angel City will play the Tigers Women in two friendlies, the first on August 10 at the Banc of California Stadium and the second for next season.
Both teams will host community impact events during each visit and will also interact with local fans, community groups and local football clubs.
