An outdoor dining set that is a permanent feature of the LA County food scene – Pasadena Star News

Outdoor dining is a permanent feature of Los Angeles County’s vibrant food scene, and the Los Angeles County Supervisory Board may vote on Tuesday, June 8 in favor of state law to expand outdoor options. ..

Supervisors Kathryn Barger and Janice Hahn co-authored a motion in support of the two state bills, one for outdoor dining and one for expanding liquor licenses.

“Even after the pandemic is over, eating outdoors is one of the things we should protect,” Hahn said. “The restaurant appreciates it, the diner accepts it, and we are blessed with beautiful weather that we can enjoy all year round.”

Berger and Hahn promoted temporary outdoor dining last summer to help eateries struggling in the pandemic, and county regional planners quickly tracked approvals.

“We must make every effort to make this program a permanent option for eateries throughout the region,” Berger said. “This is a valuable resource for the restaurant and hospitality industry, which was devastated by the closure of COVID-19.”

Act of Parliament 61 allows local governments to expand their outdoor dining. Senate Bill 314 gives companies that have been granted a temporary liquor license to expand their business during a pandemic the opportunity to make that expansion permanent.
