An adult mountain lion tried to attack a domestic cat in a house in the Apple Valley – VVNG.com

APPLE VALLEY, California (VVNG.com) – The Apple Valley Police Department warns the public after an adult mountain lion tried to attack a cat.

It happened on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, around 11:29 pm, in the yard of the house in block 12000 Tamiani Road.

VVNG recently reported seeing a big cat that happened on April 26 in the same area. The owner of the house shared Ringa’s camera footage showing a large cat sniffing around the front porch.

Sheriff’s officials said that during the last incident, a fully grown mountain lion tried to attack the applicant’s cat. “When the deputies responded, they could not locate the mountain lion,” officials said.

The department provided some advice to the public courtesy of wildlife.gov.

  • Do not hike, ride a bike or run alone. Do not hike, bike or run at dawn, dusk or at night.
  • Be careful on the trails. Take good care of small children and pets without a leash.
  • Never approach a mountain lion. Give them a way to escape.
  • DO NOT RUN. Stay calm. Don’t turn your back. Face the animal, make noise and try to look bigger. * Do not squat or bend over.
