Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall arrive in style at the 2022 Oscars

Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes brought the glitz and the glamour to the 2022 Academy Awards red carpet at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California on Sunday afternoon.

As the comedy powerhouses prepared to make history as the first female trio to host the most prestigious award ceremony in the film industry, they looked unfazed by the pressures that come with the high-pressure gig.

Looking as calm and collected as ever, Schumer commanded attention in a plunging black figure-hugging gown with a silver sequined bow on front and her straight golden blonde hair brushed to one side.

She was accompanied by her chef husband Chris Fischer, who looked incredibly handsome in a classic black tuxedo, bow tie and white dress shirt.

The happy couple, who wed at a private residence in Malibu a few days after getting engaged in 2018, posed for photos with their arms wrapped around each other before sharing a sweet kiss.

While Schumer will be busy hosting, the two appeared to be making the most of their time together on a rare night away from their two-year-old son Gene David.

Meanwhile Sykes, 58, oozed confidence on the red carpet in a fitted Pamella Roland cream wool-and-silk suit and pointed heels.

Her wife Alex  looked extra glamorous in a blush sequin-covered gown and drop diamond necklace as they stood side-by-side holding hands with their heads close together.

Speaking of the hosting gig, the actress told E! red carpet host Laverne Cox that she’s had a ‘good time during rehearsals’ and has been ‘working hard’ to ensure a great show for viewers.

Hall, 51, ensured all eyes were on her as she strutted down the red carpet in a custom, chestnut brown Vera Wang gown with a corseted bodice, floor-length triangular capped sleeves and daring slit up the front.

The Nine Perfect Strangers told Vogue she wanted to wear something ‘romantic and beautiful’ to the big night.

Wang explained she wanted the dress to ‘capture and reflect the sheen of Regina’s skin tone for a modern, minimalist statement, whilst accentuating the deliberate contrasts.’

She accessorized the gown with a pair of Stuart Weitzman copper heels and ’18K rose gold with black, brown, and white diamond Pomellato jewelry pieces.’

Last month the three stars were confirmed as co-hosts of this year’s Oscars, the first all-female host line-up and the first emcees since 2018.

Schumer, 40, gave a brief video to Good Morning America on February 15 where she joked: ‘Good morning America, I’m not sure who thought this was a good idea but I am hosting the Oscars along with my good friends Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall. I better go watch some movies.’

Variety reported previously that the three comedic stars are ‘finalizing details’ for The Oscars hosting gig. The Hollywood Reporter then followed up the story claiming that they have confirmed the trio of stars will host. The Academy confirmed it on Tuesday morning.

In a joint statement, the female hosts said: ‘We want people to get ready to have a good time. It’s been a while.’

It has been 35 years since three people hosted the Oscars, and the first time that three females have been in the main emcee role.

The last time a team hosted the awards ceremony was in 2011, when Anne Hathaway and James Franco hosted the event.

This year’s ceremony will bring the emcee format back for the first time since 2018. In 2019, Kevin Hart was due to host the show but he was canceled over homophobic tweets.

The show went ahead with a rotation of guest hosts instead and in February 2020 – the last show before the pandemic – the same format was followed.

There was no host for the largely virtual event in 2021. It’s unclear how much each woman is getting paid for the gig.

In a statement on Tuesday morning, Packer said: ‘This year’s show is all about uniting movie lovers. It’s apropos that we’ve lined up three of the most dynamic, hilarious women with very different comedic styles.

‘I know the fun Regina, Amy and Wanda will be having will translate to our audience as well. Many surprises in store! Expect the unexpected!’

The 94th Academy Awards are scheduled for March 27 at the Dolby Theater in L.A.

Earlier this year it was revealed that Hollywood’s biggest night would be fronted by a main host again for the first time in four years.

The three stars have yet to comment on the report, but Schumer teased that she had ‘Big fun news comin” on Sunday evening.

Comedian Jimmy Kimmel was the last to take on hosting duties in 2018.

Last month, The Hollywood Reporter revealed how this year’s Oscars would be a ‘three-act show’ with multiple hosts at the helm.

Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland had been rumored to be a frontrunner to host the show as well.

In January, Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals & ABC Entertainment, confirmed the news there would be a host.

Erwich was speaking during ABC’s portion of the Television Critics Association virtual press tour, saying: ‘You heard it here first.’
