American Samoa reported the first case of coronavirus on Friday. US territorial agent-generals and health officials said the first case of Covid-19 was from a resident who returned from Hawaii to American Samoa. The infected traveler flew on the first day last Monday. Number of newly reopened commercial flights from Honolulu to Pago Pago. The route has been suspended since March 2020. Authorities say the resident has been fully vaccinated and has traveled to Hawaii and the continental United States. Before boarding the plane back to American Samoa, travelers are said to have tested negative for Covid-19. In American Samoa, all travelers need vaccination and quarantine.

The infected traveler flew last Monday, the first day of a newly reopened commercial flight from Honolulu to Pagopago. The route has been suspended since March 2020.

Residents have been fully vaccinated and have traveled to Hawaii and the continental United States, officials said. They say the Covid-19 test was negative before the traveler boarded the plane back to American Samoa.

American Samoa requires all travelers to be vaccinated and quarantined.
