American Idol 2022: The final auditions, a ballet dancer and a prank!

LOS ANGELES – The final round of auditions began with 1 platinum ticket remaining – an opportunity not only to get to Hollywood but also to the second round.

The inaugural hearing Monday night introduced Tobias, a North Carolina high school choir teacher who is chasing his dream. Hailing from a small town of 89, he told the judges he wanted to do it all!

His jacket earned Tobias a few points of style before he sat down at the piano to perform Stevie Wonder’s “Knocks Me Off My Feet”.

Tobias also showed some impressive dance moves after the show.

Morgan Gruber hails from a small town in Fombell, Pennsylvania where she lives on a large acreage of 12 acres where she hunts and fishes daily.

Tired of looking at all these cornfields, this 17-year-old high school student is trying to become the next Idol. She said that her grandmother who passed away inspired her to audition.

Morgan has a smooth voice and her own style that has won the applause of the judges.

“It was amazing,” said Katy Perry.

“I looked at Katy’s sheet. It said top 20. My sheet says top 20,” said Luke Perry.

Kimmie has been dreaming of trying American Idol since she grew up singing Kelly Clarkson’s “Breakaway” in her bathroom. Now he wants to show his daughter Lily that anything is possible.

He is also a fan of Luke Bryan and hugged him tonight.

We do not often see couples auditioning for “American Idol,” but Kaylin Roberson of Raleigh, North Carolina and Matt Gorman of Philadelphia did their best to perform an original song for the judges.

They have appeared together in their new city of Nashville and their chemistry was revealed during their audition, but only one would get a ticket to Hollywood.

18-year-old Saylor from Oklahoma made a music video that went viral when she was younger. She struggles with the personal loss of her father, who left her mom for another woman. Saylor’s emotion erupted during her audition as she sang a song about her dad. He won so much the second hug of the night from Luke Bryan.

The most dramatic listening of the night came when an intruder caused some disturbing moments, but the whole thing turned out to be a prank on Luke Bryan.

Cameron Whitcomb from Canada had a hard time understanding when he was talking, but he could do backflips! He has never taken voice lessons, he has never sung in front of a crowd and yet he gave an amazing rendition of “Rock Salt and Nails”.

Emyrson Flora just made music videos from her bedroom, so the chances of her arriving in Hollywood seemed high. The judges had to decide whether to roll the dice on this “raw” talent.

Sir Blayke is from Chicago, but has been living in Los Angeles for the past few years. He had a difficult journey chasing his dream. He started singing solo when he was 8 years old and started pursuing his dream of high school, moving to Atlanta with just $ 100 in his pocket.

He is still fighting in Los Angeles, but he hopes that American Idol will turn his fortune.

Carly Mickeal says much of her inspiration and creativity comes from her dad, who is a musician. Accompanied the 23-year-old canine in her audition.

Jay Copeland graduated from college with a degree in music and is now pursuing his dream of becoming the next Idol after receiving an ultimatum from his school.

He performed Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours” for his audition and had Katy Perry dance.

He was so good that he won this special platinum ticket for Hollywood!

The last audition of the night and the season was attended by a ballet dancer. Skyler Maxey-Wert has performed in Germany since graduating from high school in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, but he has also always loved singing. He started posting videos on Instagram and that was what landed him on Idol auditions. Incubus’s Brandon Boyd spotted one of his videos and told him to try it out for the show.

Skyler made everyone dance to the end!

See next American Idol after the Oscars on Sunday and Hollywood Week starts on Monday at 8 p.m. ET / PT | 7 p.m. CT at your local ABC station and the next day at Hulu.
