All the reasons you need to attend a summer movie night at South LA Park
People in LA love movies and we also love being outdoors. We take advantage of both at Summer Movie in the Park, which takes place at all South LA Parks. And while we may show up for movies and fresh air, the benefits of taking a walk in the park and spending time with your neighbors last beyond the movies. The Marquise Harris Dawson Council Office offers blankets and light meals, the movie is free, and it’s a perfect summer activity for family and friends. Here are three reasons why you should appear.
Time spent in a local park
1. Pause the brain.
Being outside helps us let go of the week and gives us a break from the asphalt and concrete of our daily lives.
2. Become social in real time.
Going to a summer movie night is a safe way to meet friends of all ages, giving you the opportunity to get to know our neighbors, and increase the safety of the community. Mask up! safely!
3. For the health of it.
Movies are just one part of park programming. So come back and take a walk, swim or dance class. Meet your friends, walk, play balls and play soccer. The park is fully staffed and programmed and it’s all for you.
Due to COVID-19, a movie night reservation is required. This can be done from Eventbrite (http://cd8events.eventbrite.com/). So pack your kids and head to the park in your neighborhood. See you at the baseball stadium. The movie starts at 7 pm.
This Friday, July 30th, you will be able to visit the following sites:
