Three children were injured at a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department event in Rancho Cucamonga when a downdraft from a helicopter that landed nearby lifted an occupied bouncy castle off the ground, authorities said Monday, May 2. With.
The incident happened Saturday, April 30, at a Sheriff’s Department open house event at their Rancho Cucamonga station at 10510 Civic Center Dr., authorities said in a news release. The event included displays, food and a children’s bouncy castle, the sheriff’s department said.
When a sheriff’s aviation unit helicopter landed on the rooftop helipad nearby, a downdraft from the helicopter caused several canopies and the bouncy castle to lift off the ground, authorities said.
As a result, three children were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment, the sheriff’s department said. Another child who was in the bouncy castle did not require hospitalization, authorities said.
The extent of the children’s injuries was initially unclear.
