3 arrested in connection to smash-and-grab robbery at Merced Mall

MERCED, California (KFSN) – Six men are now in custody for a series of robberies across the state, including one earlier this year at the Merced Mall.

Back on February 8, masked men stormed the Prestigio Jewelers at Merced Mall and smashed shop windows before stealing the jewelry inside.

The men started with jewelry worth about $ 200,000.

Since then, Merced police have worked closely with San Jose police and other state agencies to report similar crimes.

Using video surveillance, detectives were able to identify the suspects.

They issued search warrants and made six arrests. Three of the suspects are accused of robbing Merced.

Recognized as Andrew Maravilla-Lopez of Hayward, Maurice Sweet of Pittsburg and Michael Earle of Menlo Park.

Merced police are still searching for 12 other suspects in the mall robbery.
