$20K reward offered after Army veteran killed at family birthday party in Lancaster

Lancaster, CA (KABC)-26-year-old Ismael Zabala was the pride of his family. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran-a muscular young man who shines in American patriotism and serves his country outstandingly.

Sadly, the American hero will come to his tragic end in the very soil that he vowed to protect from foreign enemies.

On the morning of December 20, 2020, a gunman shot and killed a military veteran while enjoying a family birthday celebration in Lancaster.

The victim’s father, Alex Zabara, says the shooting was meaningless.

“It doesn’t make sense,” the father said. “He is a good boy. He touched a lot of hearts.”

The victim’s mother continues to shed tears in hopes of justice and closure.

The detective has detained the suspect, but does not elaborate on his arrest. They are looking for another man identified as Oscar Parazueros. They say he is the second suspect in murder.

Lieutenant Derrick Alfred of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office said an arrest warrant was issued to Parazueros. Authorities believe the suspect is hiding.

The detective says both suspects briefly attended the birthday party but were asked to leave, and that was when things turned into the worst.

Alfred says Parazueros and a second suspect pulled a pistol, Parazueros fired a gun, and beat Zabara and his brother. Zabala died as a result of a gunshot wound.

The LA County Supervisory Board is working with the City of Lancaster to provide a $ 20,000 bounty for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the killing of veterans.

The victim’s family is now looking back on his positive outlook on life and his pride in serving his country. The family shows off the honor of Zabara’s army.

Alex Zabara said his son knew the meaning of respect and was a great athlete at Little Rock High. He added that his son was always a smiling boy.
