2022 Fresno Area Farmers Market Guide

It is again that wonderful time of year when the spring crops of the valley begin to peak. That’s right, it’s the farmers’ market season!

It’s been a few years since my last collection at Farmers Market, so it’s time for an update. Without further ado, I present to you:

The FresYes 2022 Guide to Farmers Markets

The Vineyard Farmers Market takes place under the iconic arbor at Blackstone and Shaw in Fresno.

Beautiful fresh flowers and bouquets welcome shoppers at Vineyard Farmers Market.

The Vineyard Farmers Market (Central Fresno)

Vineyard Farmers Market is now in its 42nd year of operation. It is a basic product of Fresno that operates twice a week, all year round (rain or shine). It is located below the beautiful, vine-covered arbor on the northwest corner of Blackstone and Shaw Avenues in downtown Fresno.

The Vineyard is working Wednesdays from 3-6 in the afternoon and Saturdays from 7 in the morning until noon.

Saturday sellers tend to be a little more plentiful than Wednesday sellers, but you can find everything from fresh, organic fruit and berries to local gourmet cheeses, handmade chocolate and fresh eggs on both days.

My best tips are:

  1. Be sure to check out Thao Farms at the western end of the arbor for some of the best and most varied vegetables you will find anywhere.
  2. Arrive early during the summer if you want to get the most variety in berries. Mendoza Farms is very popular and always has a range (although it moves fast!).
  3. Go early on Saturday and enjoy a dessert from La Boulangerie and a coffee from Fabiano’s before shopping for the products of the week. It is paradise!

Clovis Community Hospital (Clovis)

This market is open every Monday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. just north of West Parking Garage. It is open to staff and the general public, so if you are in the Clovis area, spend a weekly refill with local produce during your lunch!

River Park Farmers Market (North Fresno)

River Park Farmers Market is a year-round market that takes place every year Tuesday afternoon 5-9 p.m. and Saturdays from 10am – 2pm. The market is located just west of the Regal Theater and focuses on organic and local products, as well as prepared foods such as Mexican-style corn (elote), tacos and shaved ice. There are also occasional food festival events such as the Spicy Food or Bacon festival to enjoy. River Park Farmers Market often offers free entertainment as well as live music or dance performances.

Market at Heart (North Fresno)

This is a new market, which takes place on Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Fresno Heart Hospital at 15 E Audubon Dr., Fresno, CA 93720. The market is located in the car park southeast of the main entrance. This market is open to both Heart Hospital staff and the general public, and is a great place for NE Fresno residents and staff to enjoy a meal, with fresh produce available for the coming weekend.

Old Town Clovis Farmers Market (Clovis)

This is actually a two part market.

One part is the year-round market which takes place from 9am to 11:30 am. each Saturday in the old DMV car park at 625 Pollasky Avenue in Clovis.

The other, perhaps better known, market is the one that happens Friday in the evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. starting the first weekend of May and lasting until the end of September.

The vendors in each are extremely different and offer everything from delicious fruits and nuts to fresh lobster and chow mein chicken. Although Saturday morning market is significantly smaller than Friday night seasonal market (which offers live entertainment, music, children’s activities and food trucks), it offers no options.

The Market In The Parc

This year-round, certified fresh produce market in California takes place at Community Regional Medical Center and near UCSF Fresno in Downtown Fresno at 2210 E. Illinois.

If you are in the city center and looking for a delicious lunch and some fruits and vegetables to take home for the weekend, this market will be here for you every Friday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
