SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 20-year-old man suffered a fracture of his left femur in a frontal collision on Wednesday afternoon in the North City neighborhood of San Diego.
The victim was driving a blue Mazda Miata 1999 convertible heading east to Via De La Valle Square 14900 at 3:51 p.m. and drove into the two-way center lane where he passed a silver Chevrolet Volt EV 2022 driven by a 16.-year-old girl heading west, said San Diego Police Department Robert Himes.
Both drivers exited the lane heading west to avoid a collision, but collided head-on, Himes said.
The Mazda driver also suffered several other fractures and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Chevrolet driver complained of pain but was not taken to hospital.
Himes said drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.
The Traffic Division of the San Diego Police Department is investigating the collision. Anyone with information about this was asked to call 858-495-7800 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
