Two women were killed Sunday when a car overturned another car on the Pomona (60) motorway, authorities said.
A 24-year-old also suffered minor injuries in the collision on the eastbound freeway west of Reservoir Road, which occurred shortly after 2:05 a.m., the California Highway Patrol announced.
A woman driving a 2019 Honda Civic ended a 2013 Toyota Camry that had been stopped by a previous crash before, the CHP said. That woman and a 23-year-old woman from Chino – passengers in the Camry – were pronounced dead at the scene.
Rescuers rushed the driver of the Camry, a 24-year-old man from Chino, to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center with minor injuries. Alcohol is not suspected to be the cause of the accident.
A Sigalert released at 2:49 a.m. that closed all lanes eastward was canceled around 8 a.m., the CHP said.
The Baldwin Park area office of the CHP asked anyone with information about the crash to call 626-338-1164.
No other information was available.
