HESPERIA, California (VVNG.com) – Two people were transferred by plane after a semi-trailer collided with the rear of another semi-trailer on the I-15 highway in Hesperia.
It happened on Saturday, March 26, 2022, around 1:46 a.m., along I-15 in a southerly direction, near the Main Street overpass.
For reasons still being investigated, the combination of tractor and trailer was traveling at an unknown speed when it collided with the rear of the semi-trailer, leaving two people trapped.
San Bernardino County firefighters arrived on the scene and reported that they have two critical patients who need to be rescued. In addition, they requested that two helicopters land on Bishop Avenue and Poplar Street, 395 East American Highway.
Mercy 66 transported one of the injured by plane to Loma Linda University Medical Center, and Mercy 22 transported the other to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. The driver of the second semi-trailer was not injured.
Caltrans responded to approximately 30 gallons of diesel and oil on the road. The spill was stopped before it reached the shoulder and posed no danger.
California Highway Patrol officers cut off traffic north of Bear Valley Road that lasted about 10 minutes.
The official cause of the accident is under investigation by the Victorville CHP station.
