16th annual Million Mothers March set for Saturday in Pomona – Daily Bulletin

Mothers, their families and other community members are expected to take part in the 16th annual march of millions of mothers in Ganesha Park in Pomona on Saturday, May 21st.

Organized by the Kennedy Austin Foundation based in Pomona, a nonprofit organization working with parents, mostly women, who have lost a child in the area of ​​the three cities of Pomona, Claremont and La Verne, the event allows participants to reflect on the loved ones of lost. violence and other causes of death.

“We hope to see the community stand up and remember those who are not with us today,” said Ethel Gardner, the foundation’s founder and CEO. “It has to do with the transition from tragedy to a real change of hope.”

The event will feature a march around the park and a balloon launch in memory of lost loved ones. There will also be numerous stands with information on services and programs offered by local and non-profit organizations.

Speakers include various community leaders, including Pomona Mayor Tim Sandoval and Thomas D. Allison, who is running for judge on the LA District High Court.

Registration for the half mile walk begins at 8 p.m. The walk will start immediately at 9am. Ganesha Park is located in 1575 N. White Ave.
