16-year-old musical prodigy Tiara Abraham graduates from UC Davis

Dressed in a hat and dress, Tiara Abraham graduated from UC Davis this weekend with a bachelor’s degree at the age of 16. “This is just one step from my journey,” Abraham said glamorously in an interview with KCRA 3 after passing the stage. Abraham is an exception among the middle college graduates, who got her degree in music at the age of 16. She started her college career at the age of 7 in community college. “It’s a very exciting next step for her,” said Tanishq Abraham, the graduate’s brother. Both children of the Abraham family graduated from college as teenagers. “We take care that they have the opportunity to pursue their passion, not to try to direct them to what we think is best for them, but to their passion,” said Tanishq and Tiara’s father, Bijou Abraham. Graduating from UC Davis with a 4.0 is one of Tiara’s many accomplishments, including joining MENSA at age 4 and graduating from high school at age 13. As a gift of departure to her most alma mater, Tiara sang the National Anthem and Closing Ceremonies, Hail in California, during graduation ceremonies. Tiara will now transfer her talent to the famous Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. “I could get over it all, just by proving to myself that I could play with great technique and here I am,” Tiara said.
