The crash was reported in east-facing lanes just before 11 a.m. near Malki Street, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs.
The CHP says the 33-person Greyhound was traveling in the second lane at about 60 to 65 mph when a left front tire burst.
The bus lost control, slipped to the left and hit a Mitsubishi Outlander in the next lane and then hit the center divider.
Authorities say one person on the bus was seriously injured and another 11 were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The remaining passengers were transported to the Morongo Tribal Hall in Cabazon. No one was injured in the Mitsubishi.
One lane was blocked at 10 a.m. as authorities continued to investigate the accident.
