Family and neighbors tried to find the victim but they were engulfed in thick smoke as the house burned down.
Officials say flames broke out at the home in Thorne and Dennett shortly after midnight.
Crews arrived to find flames up to 30 feet high coming from the roof of the building. Officials received reports of residents inside.
Three people managed to escape.
A neighbor told Action News that a man was still inside, that he had autism and was not verbal.
His father tried to get in to save him but injured his hand.
It was then that the neighbor entered the house, spending almost two minutes in the thick smoke looking for the man who was still inside.
“I ran into the house and looked everywhere for his son until I could not breathe, so I had to go outside,” says Phillip Wallace.
The crews found the man dead.
Investigators believe the fire started inside the house. They are still trying to find the cause.
